LAMP LIGHTING

The lamp lighting is a ceremony held to pay tribute to Florence Nightingale, “The Lady with the Lamp” who was the pioneer of modern nursing. The lamp lighting and oath-taking ceremony formally declare the student’s entry into the nursing profession. The lamp lighting ceremony is a significant event in the life of a nursing student as this ceremony indicates the successful completion of 3-months of initial training, and wearing a nurse’s uniform for the first time.
